"My name is Emily H Bridge, and I am the owner/designer/maker of Quest for the Beasties, where I make and sell one of a kind art dolls/plushies and original illustrations."
Emily grew up on a farm in the woods of rural Connecticut, and attributes that to why she’s drawn to plants and animals. Later she went on to graduate from an art school with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Illustration. Like many of us, she spends her time finding serotonin through gardening, hiking, photography, nature and traveling! The connection between nature and stuffed fiber-creations came during Emily’s upbringing when she was inspired by the architecture of her own stuffed animals, eventually going on to attend a yearly Artist Teddy Bear show. Currently Emily’s favorite designs to bring to life are her Tree Sprites (which, if I must say, are unmatched in their original design!) and seasonal Beasties, including Pumpkin Head Dolls in the Fall!
"I started this business in 2015 and grew it part time for years. It just proves that if you make yourself a 5 year goal and work really hard, you can accomplish whatever you put your mind to!"
Quest for the Beasties was created in part by Emily making art since childhood, and in part inspired by characters developed in an original children’s book she wrote and illustrated as her senior project, titled “Quest for the Beasties.” Some inspirations include children’s books, her travels in Japan, the natural world around us and her crazy (impressive) mind!
What we like most about Emily is that she is kind. Anyone can be a Maker, but at Faerie we find those with reputable altruism most valuable to the community! We’ve learned that Emily values equity, education and environment, even donating a few times a year to the foundation, Auction for Aspen. Emily has also used her business to raise money for environmental disasters and Native American rights. We can all appreciate a small business owner with the ongoing goal of using their business to support important causes facing minorities in America throughout the coming years. We can also all appreciate an artist like Emily, whose imagination aims to bring comfort and joy to create her true happiness through her craft!
